The department of orthopaedics started in 1956, providing specialized care for disease of bone, joints and musculoskeletal systems.
The department offers clinical training for students. The services provided cover fracture management, paediatric deformities like CTEV, spine disorders, arthroplasty, arthroscopy, and hand surgery.
Presently, the Orthopaedics department caters to 450 OP day, 100 patients in casualty, 200 IP patients in the wards. We also attend around 30 patients in Major operation theatre and 20 patients in casualty operation theatre.
We have 2 Professor, 3 Assoc. Professors and 15 Asst. Professors. There are 54 MS Ortho students, 8 SR and 12 interns working in the department.
Around 30 arthroplasties and arthroscopies are being done a month.
